Chapter Six
Once they were inside his apartment, Caden offered Persius a drink. ‘I have bourbon, beer, and some really bad red wine.’
‘It’s really bad?’ Persius laughed. ‘Then why are you offering it to me?’
‘I hoped you wouldn’t be interested in leaving, even after drinking it – even after you’ve realised I have no ability when it comes to selecting a good bottle of wine.’
‘That’s certainly not a deal breaker for me. And I wouldn’t dream of leaving.’ Persius hoped that Caden wouldn’t notice the way he was looking at him – like a man lost in a sea of love. He knew it was too soon for Caden to feel the same way, but he’d noticed a quite obvious change in the way that Caden was treating him. The change had to mean something good, Persius thought. It had to mean that things were changing in his favour.
‘I’d agree to the really bad red wine, but I think you’d think less of me if I did –’
‘No, I wouldn’t,’ Caden said, and Persius considered the way Caden had looked at him when he said that, a look that might have said he was starting to feel stronger things than just lust. Or was he just reading too much into Caden’s every action? Perhaps. Perhaps not. Fuck, he had to stop over-thinking everything, and just try to enjoy the moment he was in the middle of. Because after he succeeded in saving Caden’s life, he would have to leave the man behind. For good. So he had to be here now, because now was all he had.
‘You look – sad,’ Caden said, his words bringing Persius back into the room. Caden walked over, cupped Persius’s chin, and kissed him. Persius kissed Caden back, glad to be doing something other than thinking in that moment. As Caden pulled away from Persius he sighed softly. ‘Maybe we should skip the drinks.’
‘Maybe we should.’
Caden took Persius’s hand and began to lead him back to his bedroom. Where they’d had sex for the first time. Where Persius wanted to sleep every night. Where he was now undressing Caden, taking off each layer of his clothing. But he did so at a very slow pace, taking his time. He didn’t want to rush into the sex like they had every other time – he wanted to enjoy every second of it. Right now, he was enjoying running his fingers back and forth across Caden’s bare chest, his touch light, gentle, but then, without a single bit of warning, he tossed Caden onto the bed. Then Persius took the tie that Caden had been wearing only a little bit ago and leant down over Caden. ‘Have you been – tied up before?’ Persius asked him. ‘And can I?’
‘No, no, but I think I’ve really been missing out. And yes, go ahead.’
So Persius went ahead, binding Caden’s wrists, wrapping the tie around them until they were secure.
‘Look at how hard you’ve made me!’ Caden’s voice was soft, and he sounded a little surprised.
